As part of the Cupids 400 Celebrations, Cupids 400 assisted the Old Perlican Heritage Committee to stage a two day series of events which focused on various aspects of Newfoundland cultural heritage. The weekend included: storytelling, old time music, crafts, traditional dance, and an old fashioned time.

One of the highlights was “From the Lips of Our People,” a play presented by the students of Baccalieu Collegiate. Written by Newfoundland author and playwright Bruce Stagg, “From the Lips of Our People” weaves the memories of early outport life with modern day issues. These memories were presented through the reminiscences of Ben and Molly and caused the audience to experience laughter, sadness, love and longing as they drifted back in time to the “good old days.”

About Me

Henry Crout, one of John Guy\'s Colonists is the avatar for Cupids Cove Chatter. The hand represents his journal writing. Although a number of people including John Guy and Sir Percival Willoughby recorded information about the first English colony in Canada, Henry Crout recorded what was happening on the ground. We hope this blog will introduce and describe events from an - on the ground - perspective. We hope to have guest bloggers who will add their descriptions and opinions.
